Abstract

This paper was addressed to introducing new method of measuring the real wealth of environmental value either in the ecological point of view or economically. The new method proposed here was “Emergy analysis” (the available energy of one kind previously used up directly and indirectly to make a production or service). The Emergy analysis was used to gain overviews of the relationship between economy and ecology in relation to the decision making whether the environmental need conservations or not. In this paper some Emergy terminology was introduced as well as the definition of Emergy itself. Some of the Emergy terminology introduced here were; Energy, emergy, solar transformity, exergy, empower and EmValue. Procedure to do Emergy analysis was clearly discussed here and followed by Emergy indices calculation. Based on the result of Emergy indices calculations, we will get recommendation to make the suitable decision about a system, environmental or even production activity. Keywords : Emergy, transformity, Emergy-index, conservation.

Abstract

Key words : Bakteri, simbion, cumi, organ cahaya

Abstract

Bacterial deseases are seriousness problem in aquaculture. The uncontrolled of quality degradation of pond sites because of wastes and organic matters decompotition and also global climate changes has been predicted affect triggered the bacterial infections. Vibrio harveyi is one of patogenic bacteria which againts Tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon). The recovery strategies has been applied both in the rehabilitation of pond sanitary and also it has been focussed in curative methods to overcome infection activities. The usage of synthetic antibiotics has been reported gift any negative effects, either for environment and rised pathogenic resintance because of uncontrolled exposure.Environmental friendly and based on biological methods has been promoted to overcome this problem. The usage of antibacterial agents derived from natural compounds  has been recommended as an effective method. Several marine resources has been predicted as candidates of antibacterial agents againts Vibrio harveyi. Several seaweeds (macroalga) and seagrass has been explored in this research at in-vitro level of study to inhibit the activity of Vibrio harveyi. The result showed that all of the crude extracts derived from seagrass (Thallasia sp) and several kinds of seaweeds  (Padina sp, Gracilaria sp and Sargassum sp) could inhibit the growth of Vibrio harveyi from the lowest concentration level (10 µg/mL). The highest inhibition activity has been showed from the antibacterial sensitivity test of crude extract of Thallasia sp at the concentration level of 10.000 µg/mL.                                                                                                                                  Keywords : macroalgae, seagrass, secondary metabolite, antibacteria, Vibrio harveyi

Abstract

Keywords: e-nose, formalin, multivariat

Abstract

Feeding with a balanced formulation of nutrition, can help the process of growth  and moulting of mub crab,Scylla serrata. In general, the Soca crab aquaculture  utilize  feed that is still competitive with humans thereby increasing the cost operasional, while in the intensive aquaculture require  the availability of feed in a number of good quality, inexpensive, sustainable and high production value. One of an alternative food for the growth of mud crab is  temberungun snail (Telescopium-telescopium), which is a waste of traditional farming in ponds. This study aimed to compare the effect of  temberungun snail as a feed with other feeds that high economic value for the  growth and moulting of mud crab. The research was carried on  January to May in traditional ponds in the small island of Tarakan. Four feed treatments were applied:  A = trash fish, B = temberungun snails (Telescopium-telescopium), C =  crustaceans (Penaeid sp), D = squid (Loligo sp).   The results of the studi showed that the use of   non-economical feed of  temberungun snail was not significantly different with the other natural feed that high economic value   to growth and moulting of mud crab. Keywords : Scylla serrata, growth, moulting, snail temberungun

Abstract

Tremendous gaps remain in our understanding of the foraging ecology of sea turtles. For some species, little progress in the elucidation of diet and foraging habitats has been made since reviews summarized the state of our knowledge more than 20 years ago. These papers will describe how to derivate a mathematics equation to estimate the grazing rate of green sea turtle in a seagrass meadow. The mathematical equation was generated based on observation on the green sea turtle daily feeding activity which correlated with average total time that they allocated for feeding or foraging activity. Through these mathematical equations we can estimate total daily consumption of green sea turtle. Keywords :  mathematic, equation, grazing rate, green sea turtle, feeding activity
